Florida Department of Health in Lafayette County

Kerry S. Waldron began as the new Administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Suwannee and Lafayette Counties on March 9, 2015. Since 1988, Waldron has served the public in Georgia and Florida at both the city and county government levels.


Kerry Waldron is a proven public servant and an excellent fit for the Administrator position with the Florida Department of Health in Suwannee and Lafayette Counties, his experience as a leader and skill as a professional makes DOH confident that he will serve the people of Suwannee and Lafayette Counties well.


Prior to his appointment as Administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Suwannee and Lafayette Counties, Waldron worked as City Manager for the City of Live Oak. Waldron was the Director of Economic Development for the Cook County Economic Development Commission from 2002 to 2013. Waldron served as city manager for the city of Quitman from 1990 to 1996 and as City Manager for the City of Thomaston from 1996 to 2001. From 1998 until 2013, Waldron served on the Board of Directors for the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia.


Waldron has also worked as an adjunct professor at Valdosta State University, Columbus State University and as an adjunct instructor at Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College. Waldron is the published author of the motivational book, “Loving Life and Living Large, a Commonsense Approach to Successful Living”. Waldron graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and earned his Master of Public Administration from Valdosta State University.


Currently Mr. Waldron serves as Treasurer of the Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce; Membership Chair for the Live Oak Rotary Club, Vice-Chair of the Citizen Support Organization for the Stephen C. Foster State Folk Culture Center; and Secretary for the Florida Association of County Health Officers.
