Epidemiology
The Epidemiology Department at the Florida Department of Health in Lafayette County (DOH-Lafayette) investigates and monitors communicable diseases in the county. Our Epidemiology nurse is trained to assess, evaluate, and monitor communicable disease reports to help prevent epidemics.
HIV/AIDS
DOH-Lafayette offers confidential and anonymous HIV testing and counseling. Everyone needs to know their status - no one is immune. Get your HIV test today! DOH-Lafayette also offers Hepatitis screenings and immunizations.
Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD)
Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are infections that you can get by having sex with someone who has an STD. You can get an STD by having sex only one time with an infected partner. Many of the warning signs of an STD are not visible and you may not know your partner is infected.
DOH-Lafayette has trained nurses and doctors to examine, diagnose, and treat men and women with STD infections. Early diagnosis and treatment is important and decreases the risk for complications.
Tuberculosis (TB)
Tuberculosis is a disease caused by germs that are spread from person to person through the air. The germs are spread in the air when a person with active TB coughs, sneezes, talks, or sings. TB testing and treatment is available at DOH-Lafayette.
